Displays of Patriotism

 

Eerie McKeenan and me, celebrating the 4th of July with the universal sign of discontent. We are, after all, a nation born of defiance. Several years ago I told my partner, who was a German citizen, that there is a disturbing sense of discontent in the US, festering just under the surface and that, at some point, something's gotta give. We were discussing the possibility that Donald Trump might actually win the presidency. I think that moment was fully in evidence when he was elected. 

This year, although this guy isn't much better for other reasons, I am happy and thankful this Independence day, that that shit is over. 

This is not exactly the first time I have worn an over-the-top ensemble for the 4th of July. Seems to be a tradition with me and so I have had this American Flag headband for so many years. Originally made sometime in 2012 by my good friend Carrie Snowpaw. Its quality has stood the test of time because it still looks great.
